The operating system is one of the clearest ways to define what you want V to do. You equip one at a time: cyberdecks support quickhacking, Sandevistan models provide time-slowing effects, and Berserk options focus on melee-oriented action. Choose that central behavior before filling the rest of your cyberware capacity with supporting implants.

Start with an action, not a ranking
Ask what you want to rely on when an encounter becomes difficult. If the answer is applying quickhacks, begin with a cyberdeck. If you want to act around a time-slowing window, inspect Sandevistan options. If direct melee pressure is the goal, compare Berserk descriptions. This first choice narrows the search without pretending that one model suits every character.
Then check how often you actually use that action. A build planned around an ability you repeatedly forget to activate may need a simpler routine before it needs a more expensive implant. Equipment is valuable when its benefit appears in your normal play, not only in an ideal sequence written on paper.
Cyberdecks: plan the hacking routine
With a cyberdeck, your supporting decisions should follow the quickhacks you intend to use. Review RAM needs and recovery, then look at relevant Intelligence perks and compatible implants. Distinguish an expensive opening sequence from a sustained resource problem; each may call for a different adjustment.
Keep a fallback plan for situations where your preferred hacking sequence is unavailable or inconvenient. That might mean a familiar weapon, a better position, or a more cautious approach. Choosing a cyberdeck does not remove the need to manage the rest of the encounter.
Sandevistan: plan the useful window
A time-slowing ability is most useful when you already know what you want to accomplish during it. Before activating, choose a target, movement route, or immediate problem to solve. Avoid spending the opening moments deciding where to go while the encounter continues around you.
Read the individual model’s description for its activation behavior, duration, and recovery conditions. Do not assume every Sandevistan behaves identically. Plan the period after the effect as carefully as the effect itself: where will you be, what enemies remain, and what can you safely do next?

Berserk: support the melee plan
For a melee-oriented choice, inspect the particular Berserk model’s restrictions and effects before building around it. Decide how you will enter range, which weapon behavior you want, and where you can disengage. Strong close-range tools still benefit from deliberate positioning and a realistic target order.
Check whether your existing implants and perks support that plan. If most of your investment serves a different playstyle, changing the operating system alone may leave the build feeling disconnected. List the supporting changes first so the switch has a clear purpose and an affordable total cost.
Compare the complete loadout before buying
At a ripperdoc, review capacity, the available tier, and the current description. Compare the proposed system alongside the implants you would keep, replace, or postpone. A model that fits by itself may leave less room for the supporting tools that made the original plan attractive.
Keep a note of the previous setup before experimenting. Change one major element at a time and try an ordinary mission you understand. This makes it easier to identify whether an improvement came from the operating system, supporting equipment, or simply a different encounter.
Common mistakes
- Choosing a model from its reputation without reading its current description.
- Filling supporting slots before deciding the build’s main ability.
- Planning only the activation window and ignoring what happens afterward.
- Treating a complete playstyle change as a single-slot purchase.
Choose the action first, build the supporting routine, and upgrade when you can explain the specific problem the new system will solve.
