Plan admission, introductory crafting and the later mage decision as separate milestones. This checklist combines three researched routes without claiming that every character must complete all three.
Verified route notes
The Gomez guide places admission preparation around Diego, Thorus, the Shadows and the Test of Faith, with a reported level-five threshold. Huno’s introductory smithing lesson is listed at ten Learning Points and fifty Ore. The Fire Mage route is a later Old Camp decision, with formal initiation during Chapter Three and reported preparation involving level ten, Alchemy and Scroll Scribing.

Milestone one: establish admission progress
Use your journal to separate each admission requirement instead of writing one broad note that says “Old Camp tasks.” Record the relevant conversations, the supporting work and the Test of Faith individually. When one step is uncertain, revisit that step before traveling back to the castle. The purpose is to remove uncertainty, not to repeat every completed task.
Keep the audience with Gomez distinct from later promotions. Preparing for one does not establish that the other is available. A save before an important conversation should be named for that conversation, while a preparation save should record the tasks already completed. This makes a return to an earlier checkpoint a deliberate choice rather than a guessing exercise.

Milestone two: decide whether crafting fits now
Before learning smithing, compare Huno’s quoted cost with the resources you want to reserve for the next objective. If you choose the lesson, keep its payment separate from the raw materials for the first blade. Learn the workstation sequence with one attempt before planning repeated production. Nothing in this checklist establishes a guaranteed profit loop or an obligation to become a smith.
Update the resource sheet after the lesson, not only before it. Write down what was actually spent and what skill was learned. A character who has paid for crafting and a character who merely intends to do so have different remaining budgets. Keep optional crafting progress from obscuring the requirements of the route you care about most.
Milestone three: prepare a later mage decision
If the Fire Mage path is your goal, keep a separate readiness list for the reported level and skill requirements. Do not confuse introductory smithing with the Alchemy and Scroll Scribing mentioned by the mage source. When the relevant promotion conversation arrives, read the choices deliberately and follow the book-and-trial preparation rather than assuming earlier camp admission settles the class decision.
This is a planning order, not a newly verified optimal speedrun. Pause at the milestone that matches your current save, use the detailed guide for its dialogue and stop reading ahead if you want fewer spoilers. A good camp plan should tell you the next unresolved action without forcing optional systems or later story decisions into the same visit.
