AI Use Policy

GameThrum may use AI-assisted tools for limited production tasks, but people remain responsible for every published claim, judgment, and correction.

Permitted assistance

Subject to human review, AI tools may help with brainstorming search terms, organizing notes, transcription, language cleanup, formatting structured fields, code, and identifying possible consistency issues. Their output is a lead or draft—not evidence.

What AI cannot do for us

AI cannot play a game on our behalf, create a valid test record, supply a review verdict, verify a source merely by citing it, invent a quotation, or turn community chatter into a fact. We do not use synthetic first-person experience, fabricated screenshots, generated product interfaces presented as real, invented experts, or made-up reader consensus.

Verification and approval

A human editor must:

  • open and check every source used for a material claim;
  • compare factual fields with the current first-party source;
  • check experience claims against a completed test log;
  • review quotations, names, dates, platforms, versions, and links;
  • assess originality, rights, privacy, spoilers, and misleading implications;
  • approve the final page before publication.

A page is not publishable simply because an automated check passes.

Images, audio, and video

Synthetic or materially altered media must not be presented as gameplay evidence, documentary capture, or an official asset. When such media is used as illustration, it should be labeled where a reasonable reader could otherwise misunderstand it. Real game captures and official assets must retain provenance and rights notes.

Data handling

Editors must not enter confidential submissions, private community content, credentials, unreleased builds, personal data, or embargoed information into an external AI service unless its approved terms and the source’s permission allow that use.

Transparency

We disclose AI involvement when it is material to how a reasonable reader would assess the content or media. Routine assistive editing does not transfer accountability away from the GameThrum Editorial Team. This policy may be updated as our tools and risks change; material changes receive an updated date.
