GameThrum publishes useful, source-grounded coverage for players. Accuracy and decision value take priority over speed, volume, or a dramatic verdict.
Our editorial principles
- Answer the reader’s actual question. We choose topics that help someone decide, configure, understand, or complete something.
- Separate facts from experience. Store listings, developer posts, patch notes, and platform documentation can establish stated facts. They cannot establish how a game performs or feels in our tests.
- Show testing limits. A review identifies platform, version/build when available, test dates, play time, progress, hardware context, and any modes or features not tested.
- Prefer primary sources. We cite official game pages, developer or publisher materials, platform documentation, and direct patch notes before secondary summaries.
- Do not invent authority. We do not fabricate credentials, interviews, access, consensus, or first-hand play.
- Correct the record. Material errors receive visible corrections or update notes under the corrections process below.
Article labels
- Review: contains a documented hands-on evaluation and verdict.
- Tested Guide: answers a focused question with a reproducible test record.
- Game Profile: summarizes verified public information; it may include a clearly labeled test section only after play.
- News/Update: reports a dated change using attributable sources.
- Explainer: clarifies a system or term and states whether its conclusions were tested or source-derived.
We do not convert a Game Profile into a Review merely by adding opinion to public materials.
Editorial visuals and game artwork
GameThrum uses imagery to help readers recognize a game, understand the subject of an article, and discover work that may otherwise be overlooked. We also want our presentation to respect the rights and commercial identity of each developer, publisher, artist, and other rights holder.
As a general editorial practice, we do not republish a game’s original promotional banner or key art unchanged as our own article artwork. When a game needs a featured visual, we study publisher-released or publicly available reference material and prepare a new GameThrum editorial composition. That composition may preserve identifying visual qualities needed to make the subject clear—such as a character’s recognizable appearance, the game’s palette, atmosphere, materials, or genre cues—while using original framing, pose, lighting, depth, background treatment, crop, and overall composition.
These visuals are independent editorial illustrations. They are not presented as official publisher artwork, publisher advertising, sponsorship, endorsement, or a first-party asset. GameThrum does not claim ownership of the underlying game, characters, logos, trademarks, environments, or other intellectual property. Those rights remain with their respective owners. Our editorial treatment is created to identify, discuss, review, explain, or promote awareness of the work in the context of the page where it appears.
The caption prefix “GameThrum editorial illustration” identifies a visual prepared or editorially treated by GameThrum for that specific page. The words appear only in the HTML caption below the image; they are not a watermark and are not placed on the image itself. The rest of the caption explains the image’s specific editorial context.
For factual guides and technical explanations, we prefer relevant frames from actual gameplay material. A frame may be cropped and may receive a minimal arrow, box, or vector marker when that is necessary to explain a specific detail. We do not add decorative headlines, logos, watermarks, or promotional copy to the image. We also do not rebuild gameplay interfaces or instructional evidence in a way that could misstate what players will see.
GameThrum keeps an internal provenance record for editorial visuals, including the source reviewed, relevant video timestamp when applicable, and the treatment applied. Source records support our editorial review process and are not public endorsements or outbound promotional links.
If a rights holder believes an image has been attributed incorrectly, used outside its intended editorial context, or should be reviewed, they may contact GameThrum. We will assess a specific, substantiated request promptly and correct, replace, or remove material where appropriate.
Byline and accountability
Content is published under GameThrum Editorial Team. The byline is organizational, not a claim that every team member worked on every page. Each internal record must identify the researcher, tester, writer, editor, sources, and approvals. Public pages disclose the information readers need to assess the work without publishing unnecessary personal data.
Reviews and scores
A score, if used, summarizes the written evaluation; it does not replace it. Scores require hands-on testing, an explicit completion state, and editorial approval. We do not score an unreleased game, a trailer, a demo as though it were the final release, or a game we have not played. Early Access and review-in-progress coverage must be labeled.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions remain with the GameThrum Editorial Team. Access, relationships, gifts, embargoes, or requests do not guarantee coverage or control a conclusion. Relevant conflicts or supplied access must be recorded and disclosed when they could affect a reader’s judgment.
Readers and rights holders can request a correction through the Contact page with the affected URL and supporting evidence. Confirmed material errors receive a visible correction or update note; minor formatting repairs may be corrected without a note when meaning does not change.
Updating coverage
We update when a patch, platform release, server state, or corrected fact materially changes the answer. A changed date does not by itself prove meaningful review. The update note should say what changed and whether we retested it.
Reader and developer input
Readers and developers may send corrections or supporting evidence. Submissions do not guarantee a change or favorable coverage. We verify material independently where practical and disclose source limitations.
